Frequently Asked Questions
What is Emergent Curriculum?
Emergent Curriculum is based on the Constructivist Theory which suggests that we build on or construct our own knowledge based on what we already know. As well, it suggests that we learn best in situations that have meaning for us. We believe this to be true for both children and adults. Our
Professional Development program offers educators ongoing opportunities to explore new ideas and think together.
How to I enrol my child at a London Bridge child care centre?
Contact the Centre Director for child care centre vacancy information. If you are interested in your child attending one of the London Bridge Child Care Centres, contact the
location(s) most convenient for your family and the Director will:
- have the most current information on the availability of
a space for your child
- be able to answer all your questions about how to register
- arrange for a tour of the child care centre to introduce
you and see the program in action
What is a parent’s role in their child’s education?
Being an active contributor to your child’s growth and education is equally important to the learning they do during the day with their educator. Daily interactions – community events, special activities, discussions, observations, all serve as excellent opportunities for learning. You know your child best and we value parents’ input and encourage parents taking an
active role in their child’s education.
As part of the
Emergent Curriculum philosophy, we observe and document your child’s work to discover their interests and emerging ideas. We encourage parents to read the documentation and add any insights or reflections that may arise. You can also read the Classroom Daily Log for information about visitors, fire drills, meals and snacks, and the different things that happen throughout the day.
Where can I find the London Bridge Fee Schedule, Immunization Schedule and Parent Registration Package?
London Bridge provides these documents to help parents understand our organization and what we do in the
Resources page of our website.
Please Note: Downloading and completing the Parent Registration
Package does not confirm the formal or
approved
registration
of your child. This approval is left
to the discretion of the
individual Centre Director, upon
a personal interview
with
you and your child, and the
availability of spaces.
How is London Bridge structured, from an organizational standpoint?
Administratively, London Bridge is unique from many other child care centres. The ultimate responsibility for the organization rests with our Board of Directors, which is composed of parents, business and community leaders and employee representatives. The Director in each London Bridge child care centre is an Early Childhood Educator with many years experience and ongoing training and professional development. Our educators and caregivers are Early Childhood Educators and Early Childhood Paraprofessionals recruited specifically to provide the quality of care our parents rely on.
